What does RSVP mean?
RSVP stands for the French "répondez s'il vous plaît", please reply. What it means on an invitation, when to answer and how digital RSVPs work.
RSVP meaning
RSVP is short for "répondez s'il vous plaît", French for "please reply". When an invitation says RSVP, the host is asking you to say whether you are coming, yes or no.
Why hosts ask for an RSVP
Venues, restaurants and caterers charge by head count. Seating, food and drinks are planned around that number, and the host cannot give a final count until replies come in.
How to reply
A paper invitation usually gives a phone number, an email address or a reply card. A digital invitation has a form inside it, and replying takes a few taps.
Reply even if you cannot come. The host needs to close the list either way.
RSVP on Sunviter
Every Sunviter invitation includes an RSVP form. Guests enter their name, whether they are coming and how many people. The replies are listed in the host's My Invitations panel.
